Types of Games at UK Blackjack Sites

For reference, here are the Basic Blackjack Strategy charts for 4-8 decks, with separate charts for the dealer standing or hitting on soft 17. Inspired by the work of the ‘Four Horsemen’, Edward O. Thorp, an American maths professor thought of as the ‘father of card counting’, used an IBM 704 mainframe computer to explore the optimum way to play blackjack. In 1957, they included their work in ‘Playing Blackjack to Win’, the first published book to include an accurate blackjack strategy with an accompanying pull-out strategy chart. In the book, he outlined his “pointers for play” for blackjack, which included sound advice like always standing on hard 17, always splitting aces and never splitting tens or 5s.

• If allowed, the hand ends immediately, and the dealer’s cards are no longer relevant.
• This applies regardless of what the dealer is showing.
• These side rules can only be used immediately after the deal, before you take any more cards.
• In 21+3 blackjack, you play the same way as classic blackjack, but you can also place a side bet.

Understanding how each version works can help you make smarter decisions at the table. Additionally, Spanish 21 has several bonus payouts, such as a bonus for a 5-card 21 or a 6-card 21. Players also have the option to surrender their second hand. These are the key areas we focus on, and you should keep them in mind when deciding upon the best blackjack sites to sign up with. Blackjack Rules You Need to Know

You need to be aware of table rules about doubling down, but most will allow you to use this as and when required. This strategy will give you a chance to maximise your winnings when you have a promising hand. The RTP of online blackjack is more than 99%, so your chances of winning are practically 50/50. For example, if the RTP is 99.65%, the house edge is 0.35%. Best blackjack casino sites provide a wide range of convenient payment methods. Today, just about every UK online casino has a mobile-friendly site, and most have an app too.

Step 1: Place your bet

Always double down on a hard 11 (a hand without an ace). But splitting Aces gives you two 11s, allowing you to hit and hope for a high card without risking a bust. Another basic strategy is to always split aces and eights. If it works for you and you like it, that could be the best direction to go in while you figure out your playing style and risk tolerance.
